Pixel art dealing with sex?

Another isometric pixel scene found on DeviantArt. Honestly this is kind of awesome. Apparently it was in GQ Magazine in a sex drive article. At least that's what I gather from the description.

Most likely this would've been spread out on the page background with text in front, but not having seen the article itself that's just my guess.

Aside from the unique subject matter this is a master piece in it's charming style and detail, from little Star Wars and Street Fighter action figures to the angry looking vacuum cleaner.

I kind of wish I could read the article just to see if there's an explanation for why the couple might be hanging out in the attic or the basement. Kinky?

As usual with pixel art you've gotta view it at full size to see it as it was intended.

Here are some detail shots at double the normal resolution:

The Atari ST can still rock your socks

So I've mentioned before that I love pixel art so it may just stand to reason that I love chiptune music as well. I mean as far as I'm concerned chiptunes are to music what pixel art is to digital illustration.

Okay maybe not quite but in a way they share a similar spirit of boiling things down to their retro essentials while still tending to have their own flare and originality.

Anyways, here is a tune composed and synthesized on a good old Atari ST computer system by cerror. Sounds awesome right? Well it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I love the sound of square waves in the morning. :)

OH GOD NO NOT AGAIN

Evil Dead Pixel Art

As I pointed out before I love pixel art. I also love the Evil Dead series so why not put them together? Well look at that! Somebody did!

This Evil Dead isometric pixel scene came from Army of Trolls which is the portfolio of artist Gary J Lucken and it's filled with pixel madness!

Star Trek! My Screen Is Too Big?

I find this Gizmodo article about the various sizes of the different Enterprise's strangely interesting.

Just How Big Is the Enterprise's Viewscreen?

Just How Big Is the Enterprise's Viewscreen?

It's certainly a different geek perspective than the usual warp bubbles and anti-matter technobabel. "Dude! How big is Captain Kirk's TV?"

Since I just finished seeing the new Star Trek movie it seems fitting of course. And how was the movie itself? Well I suppose I found it quite satisfying. :)

Neat!

What is it you may ask?

Well I found it on Gizmodo so here you go:
"Ever wonder what the path of a Roomba looks like as it cleans your house? It's an amazing combination of randomness and precision, as shown by this long-exposure shot.

The shot was taken by shutting off all the lights in the room for 30 minutes and taking a long exposure of the path the Roomba took while cleaning up. It's beautiful and surprising. I always assumed it worked with using some sort of grid, but that clearly isn't the case at all. [Doobybrain via The Daily What]"

Font Fight?

Perhaps a true taste of geek humor, computer fonts are assigned personalities and we find out what happens when they square off against their rivals. :P

Oh the puns!

Impressive Pixel Castle

I'm a big fan of pixel art. I don't know what it is, maybe it brings out a sense of childlike nostalgia that combines the world building feel of building blocks such as Legos and the feeling of exploration and uniquely styled appearances from old video games.

In many ways scrolling across a well done large piece of pixel art is like looking at a detailed model train set and enjoying all the little details is part of what makes it so fun.

CLICK ON IT AND VIEW FULL SIZE! Otherwise there's no point. :P

A Day In The City

This was filmed on one of my days off in late March 2009. I walked around my neighborhood and took the shuttle to Ikea then went to Piedmont Park.

Star Control 2 Fanart

New Alliance of Free Stars by *spacecoyote on deviantART

Wow. I was just looking around on Deviantart when I spotted this. I don't usually just stumble across Star Control 2 fanart let alone art this good. It's a great game and a legitimate free version called "The Ur-Quan Masters" is available, click the link here.
